April Circle Challenge

APRIL MONTHLY CHALLENGE: Reuse, Repurpose, Recycle!

In honor of Earth Day (April 22nd) we would like you to recycle, reuse or repurpose 3 items on your project. For example, cut a shape from junk mail found in your trash can. Reuse something found in a junk drawer, or whatever! Use your creativity! Create a layout, card, altered project, etc.

Hello everyone in the Blogosphere if you came here on purpose congrats, if you are here by accident I hope you find something that peaks your interest.

So I decided I might as well go all in if I am going to do a Challenge why not do them both?
This post is going to be graphic heavy **sorry about that**

I thought about this challenge all night and then when my Loris Garden Cartridge came today, it all fell into place after looking at the images.. I love mushrooms, eating them deco mushrooms etc.. so I had to choose these mushrooms..

I opened my Loris Garden and decided to reuse the plastic that the Cartridge was wrapped in so I cut it down to 2 strips and put them aside..

I went into my cabinet searching for a snack and as luck would have it my daughter did not throw away the empty popcorn box so I decided to recycle this on my card. I cut it down to 2 flat pieces but still kept the strips I wasn't using.

I put it on my Imagine mat and chose print & cut the mushrooms at 4" then I used the second piece from the popcorn box and chose print & cut 4" mushroom layers but only the middle layers **the small mushroom and the pink mushroom**

I then took some CTMH Colonial White Cardstock and printed some paper using the print only feature

I painted the plastic (the one from the cartridge) with Tim Holtz Distress Paint China Blue and let it dry, then I ran it through my Cuttlebug using a Tim Holtz Damask embossing folder

I tried just placing this on my card as a background but I didn't like it, then I decided my Mushrooms needed something else, what goes well with mushrooms besides fairies? Butterflies, I used a Stampin Up Butterfly Die and cut the painted embossed plastic..

I then took a strip of left over popcorn box cut it down to fit the card and punched it with a Fiskars punch

I chose a sentiment from {ippity} Quotes a La Happy.
I popped the layers of the mushroom with CTMH 3D Adhesive Foam
I grunged them up and the paper with Tim Holtz Distress Ink Vintage Photo
The sentiment was punch using a Marvy Punch
Stamped with CTMH Cocoa Ink
The bow was string I just had laying around
The butterfly was adhered with a Glue Dot

Good Times, Girl Friend Card

Over on the Circle Blog there is a Weekly Challenge as well as a Monthly Challenge.
I have never participated until today, so wish me luck! I need to re-read the rules to see if we can post more than one project..

Weekly Challenge #27: Make a Game Plan Challenge!

The Challenge: Create your own sketch (card/layout) and then make a project with it. You will need to upload both images this week, the sketch and the project. Your sketch doesn’t need to be anything fancy, it can be something you scribbled down on a piece of scratch paper that you took a picture of, but we should be able to see your sketch apparent in your project design.

So I recently purchase or traded for I can not remember the Better Together Cartridge..
It is sooo cute! When I saw this image, I honestly immediately thought of myself and my BFF Nicole..
Nicole evacuated from Japan voluntarily as the base she is (the base I just left after 7 years of living there and moved to Florida) is only 60 miles from where one of the Nuclear Reactors is leaking radiation.. So now my BFF is in California and I really want to see her, but you know how things go.. So anyways as soon as I saw this image I thought of us and knew i had to make a card or something for her.. I made a sketch (well several but had to file them in the circular file) and voila here you go..

All cuts and papers are from the Better Together Cartridge..
Cardstock used: White Daisy from CTMH
Sentiment from {ippity} stamp set Because of You
Heat embossed with Baby Pink embossing powder from CTMH
Ribbon is from: Offray

Cricut Imagine Cuts:
2 Circles at 5.5 to from the front and back of the card, both of these were printed solid blue
1 circle cut at 5 in a patterned paper
BFF Girls (thats what Im calling them) cut at 4.5 twice and the layers were also cut
I did not use all of the layers just the purse and hair (not the bracelets)
High Heel Shoe cut at 2.8

The top of the circle is adhered together to make the card using Tombow Adhesive

Thanks for looking!

Cupcake Card

This card was made using the Cricut Imagine
I started off with the Yummy cartridge using the first cupcake in the book.
I cut the Cupcake at 4.0, and the Cupcake layers at 4.0 I then cut one more cupcake at 4.0 and flipped it.
The cupcake is popped a little with CTMH 3d Adhesive Foam
Sentiment inside the card is from the {ippity} Party Hat Wishes set

By flipping the second cupcake, I was able to align my cupcakes properly and have them connected to make a card by the cherry (for those without CDS or a Gypsy to weld items, such as me).

Thanks for looking!
Happy Crafting

Authentic Man, Card

I really love how this card turned out, I had no clear idea for what I wanted to put together when I started.
The Paper and Image is from Cricut Imagine JT Art cartridge.
I just really liked how the tree looked lonely, so I chose the tree then I had to find the paper.. honestly I thought the tree was more gray then blue..

I cut the tree at 4.0 twice, the patterned paper I actually chose the rounded square and filled it with the pattern then print & cut.

I inked the top tree in Tim Holtz Distress ink Vintage Photo, and popped it using CTMH 3d Foam Tape

The sentiment on the front of the card is from {ippity} Authentic Man Set
I used versamark and heat embossed it with Tim Holtz Distress Powder in Vintage Photo

The sentiment inside the card is from {ippity} Delightful Little Things set

I thought adding ribbon would make the card to girly, but who knows I may add blue or brown ribbon to it..

Thanks for looking Happy Crafting!
